Channel Islands National Park

After a few days in the desert, we'll drive north to Ventura Harbor and our ferry ride to Santa Cruz Island, one of the Channel Islands.  Channel Islands National Park is a gem of the national park system.  The islands are home to an impressive number of endemic species and also play host to a great spring migration of birds and even gray whales.  We'll camp on Santa Cruz island one night, and also do some hiking and kayaking around the island.
